A satellite image received earlier by the University of Dundee

A new satellite image has been released of the deep area of low pressure responsible for bad weather affecting Scotland.

The University of Dundee said a satellite called Aqua had provided the colour image.

The university, which receives satellite images, received the new picture of the storm system over Scotland at 12:26.
