Competitors from across the globe have been taking part in the Fort William Mountain Bike World Cup at Nevis Range.

The two-day event draws crowds of 20,000 people and organisers said spectators right along the course had been basking in glorious sunshine.

British rider Katy Curd battled her way to first place in the Four-Cross (4X) event, while Czech Tomas Slavik took the men's title.

The 2.8km course snakes down the slopes of Aonach Mor.

Downhill qualifying also took place on Saturday, with the finalists taking to the mountain on Sunday.

Mike Jardine, from organisers Rare Management, said: "We couldn't have asked for a better start to this year's World Cup.

"The conditions are ideal, the weather is fantastic and the British riders are living up to the bill by producing some incredible performances in front of the home fans that have turned up in their thousands."
