Fraud warning over Belladrum music festival tickets

Pigeon Detectives are among the acts appearing at the festival

People seeking tickets for next month's Belladrum festival have been warned to be aware of fraudulent sales.

Police Scotland said it had received eight reports of people paying for tickets that had not been delivered.

Organisers of the event, near Beauly, have already warned about touts offering tickets at almost double their face value.

The 10th anniversary festival sold out its 15,800 capacity six weeks in advance of it taking place.

Promoter Joe Gibbs said at the time that he was disappointed some people had bought tickets in a bid to make a profit.

The sales break the terms and conditions of the printed tickets.

Belladrum uses the Ticket Trust, an exchange scheme the band Radiohead helped to set up for people to buy and sell tickets at face value.

Festival organisers have offered advice to people wanting to sell, or buy, printed and e-tickets in a section on the event's website.

Bands and acts appearing over 2-3 August include James, Twin Atlantic, Seasick Steve, Noisettes, Pigeon Detectives, Admiral Fallow and Julie Fowlis.
