Plan to shake up Badenoch and Strathspey hospital provision
- Published
Two small hospitals in Badenoch and Strathspey could be closed and replaced by a new hospital in Aviemore.
NHS Highland's board will discuss the plan at a meeting in Inverness on Tuesday.
Health board chiefs have proposed closing St Vincent's Hospital in Kingussie and the Ian Charles Hospital in Grantown on Spey.
The new hospital has been proposed for Aviemore and could cost about £2m-a-year to run.
However, by closing the two existing hospitals and operating a single site in the area would save NHS Highland £1.2m-a-year.
