Fisherman dies after falling overboard off Cape Wrath

The boat returned to Scrabster harbour

A fisherman has died after falling from his vessel off the north coast of Scotland.

The man was helped back on board the FV North Star by other crew members but could not be revived.

The incident happened north of Cape Wrath on Monday evening. Police Scotland said the alarm was raised at about 20:40.

The fishing boat has returned to Scrabster harbour, near Thurso in Caithness.

Police Scotland is working with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch on an investigation of the incident.
