Walkers missing in Cairngorms found safe and well

Two people who got lost in bad weather in the Cairngorms have been rescued.

Cairngorm, Braemar and Aberdeen mountain rescue teams were called out at 17:00 to locate the walkers who were lost near Ben Macdui without a map or compass.

The teams for about six hours in "very challenging conditions" with winds gusting at about 100mph through the Cairngorm plateau.

Braemar Mountain Rescue Team tweeted shortly before 23:00 to say the walkers had been found "safe and well".
