Disappointment over no Moray RAF base talks
- Published
The convener of Moray Council has expressed disappointment at not getting a meeting with Defence Secretary Liam Fox over the area's RAF bases.
It is feared the Lossiemouth and Kinloss bases could be at risk as part of the government's strategic defence review.
Council convener George McIntyre wanted to stress to Mr Fox the impact closing the bases would have on Moray.
The council was told such a meeting would be "premature".
Moray's two RAF bases contribute more than £150m to the local economy annually and support 5,700 jobs, according to a report earlier this week.
The figures about Lossiemouth and Kinloss were published ahead of a full report for Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).
