Funding given to Moray over RAF base futures
- Published
Funding of £300,000 to help ease the impact of the planned closure of RAF Kinloss in Moray has been announced by the Scottish government.
The money will be used to create training and development opportunities for people facing redundancy.
The Moray Task Force, set up to fight the loss of MoD jobs in the area, said it would help to cushion the blow for some of the families affected.
The future of neighbouring RAF Lossiemouth is also in doubt.
It was announced earlier this year that RAF Kinloss would shut after ministers cancelled orders for the new Nimrod MRA4 surveillance aircraft.
The decisions stem from the strategic defence review.
