A thief targeted a car which was abandoned in snow for almost a month, it has been revealed.
The car was at the top of the B974 Banchory to Fettercairn road at Cairn O'Mount between 25 November and 21 December.
The vehicle was found with no wheels and had suffered damage costing an estimated four-figure sum to repair.
Grampian Police said the road had been closed to traffic during the entire period in question.
The road is one of Aberdeenshire's most notoriously snowbound roads.
