Aberdeen only major city to 'grow through downturn'
- Published
Aberdeen was the only major British city to grow through the worst year of the downturn, according to a new economic analysis.
Accountancy group UHY Hacker Young measured the gross value added - the measure of a region's contribution to the UK economy in goods and services.
It found Aberdeen grew slightly during 2009, due to its oil and gas sector.
The analysis showed Edinburgh and Glasgow joining Aberdeen in the top five.
