Labour rules out Lib Dem coalition at Aberdeen City Council

The Labour group said nothing else had yet been ruled out

The Labour group on Aberdeen City Council has ruled out a coalition with the Liberal Democrats.

The Lib Dem-backed plans for a planned new road bridge over the River Don proved to be a sticking point in discussions between the two groups.

Labour group leader Barney Crockett said nothing else had been ruled out.

Labour won 17 seats in last week's elections, ahead of the SNP's 15. The Lib Dems won five, with the Conservatives on three.

Meanwhile, further talks will take place between the biggest party in Aberdeenshire - the SNP - and their counterparts in both the Conservatives and the Lib Dems.

There has also been no resolution yet in efforts to create a new administration in Moray.
