A post box has been painted gold to honour Heather Stanning's victory in the Olympics.

Lossiemouth's Stanning, and rowing partner Helen Glover, triumphed in the women's pair on Wednesday - team GB's first gold and the first British female rowers to win an Olympic title.

Royal Mail has now painted a post box gold in her home town in Moray.

A special stamp featuring the pair has also been issued to mark their achievement.

Capt Stanning, 27, a Royal Artillery officer, and her rowing partner were earlier presented with a large version of the stamp while appearing on the BBC.

She is a former pupil of Gordonstoun School in Moray, where Zara Phillips - who won silver in equestrian team eventing on Tuesday - also studied.

Army colleagues, former teachers, and politicians all paid tribute after the rowers won.
