Sqd Ldr Samuel Bailey died as a result of the crash

The funeral of the third RAF airman who died when two Tornado jets crashed into the Moray Firth last month has taken place.

Sqd Ldr Samuel Bailey, 36, originally from Nottingham, was killed in the suspected mid-air collision off the Caithness coast.

His remains, along with those of Flt Lt Adam Sanders, were recovered more than two weeks after the incident.

Flt Lt Hywel Poole was airlifted from the crash scene, but died in hospital.

A fourth airman survived the crash, but was seriously injured.

Sqd Ldr Bailey, who leaves a wife and young daughter, had seen service in Iraq and Afghanistan during his RAF career.

He was a flight instructor with 15 (Reserve) Sqd and had been flying with training pilot Flt Lt Adam Sanders at the time of the crash on 3 July.

Sqd Ldr Bailey's funeral service was held in St Gerardine's Church in Lossiemouth.
