Aberdeen City Council officials have recommended a shortlist of four potential buyers is drawn up over the sale of its former headquarters, BBC Scotland can reveal.

A total of 12 bids for St Nicholas House, which is being demolished, have been received.

Potential uses include a hotel, office space or retail development.

BBC Scotland understands that a report by officers recommends four potential buyers be considered.

More than 1,000 council staff vacated St Nicholas House for the newly-refurbished Marischal College building. The 14-storey former HQ was erected in 1968.
