Aberdeen to be headquarters for fire service northern hub

  • Published

Aberdeen will be the headquarters for the northern hub of the new single Fire Service for Scotland, BBC Scotland can reveal.

The hub will incorporate the old Grampian, Tayside and Highlands fire service areas when all eight merge at the start of April.

How it will be structured is still being decided.

However it is being claimed there will be no compulsory redundancies as a result.

The commander in charge of the new Aberdeen base, Robert Scott, said he accepted it was an unsettling time for employees.
