Aberdeen City Council 'teacher incentive payments' plan approved

An Aberdeen City Council plan to offer extra "incentive" payments for teachers, external to tackle staffing levels has been approved.

The urgent business committee heard that more than 50 primary and secondary posts were unfilled.

The plan is to offer successful candidates, who are new to Aberdeen, an additional payment on taking up a post.

There would be a further payment at the end of an agreed period of service.

It is estimated this could cost about £260,000.

The plan was approved by eight votes to five.
