Aberdeen baby ashes cases support group set up

Ashes were scattered in Hazlehead's Garden of Remembrance in the 1980s

A support group is to be set up in Aberdeen for those affected by cases where baby ashes may have been disposed of without their parents' knowledge.

Parents attended a public meeting on Wednesday night and the new support group is due to meet in about a month.

Earlier this year BBC Scotland revealed no ashes had been offered to the families of infants cremated at the city's Hazlehead crematorium over a five-year period.

The council has found no wrongdoing.

It is urging anyone with any concerns to contact them directly.

Between 1984 and 1985, 40 sets of ashes were scattered in a remembrance garden.
