The life of veteran broadcaster and "champion" of the Doric dialect, Robbie Shepherd, will be explored in a new TV documentary.

Shepherd presents traditional music and dance shows Take the Floor and The Reel Blend on BBC Radio Scotland.

In the past, he has been recognised for his services to Scots culture and language with a Master of the University and an MBE.

Shepherd is a keen supporter of the use of Doric, one of 10 Scottish dialects.

The documentary, Siubhal le Shepherd, will feature his work as compere at Highland games in Oldmeldrum, Lonach and Braemar in Aberdeenshire.

Shepherd's broadcasting career has included stints on BBC Scotland's Beechgrove Garden and presenting televised sheepdog trials.

The programme will be broadcast on 31 December at 20:30.
