Motorists will have to wait several more months for the opening of a new link road in Inverurie which has been deemed unsafe.

The road was built to allow access to forthcoming housing developments to the north of the Aberdeenshire town.

It is joined by roundabouts to the roads linking the town with Oldmeldrum and Rothienorman.

Approval has been given for the redesign of a roundabout, which was said to risk toppling over lorries.

A statutory three-month notification period means remedial work will not be able to start until January.
