Scottish soldier laid to rest century after death in World War One

A Scottish soldier has been laid to rest more than 100 years after his death in World War One.

The remains of L/Cpl John Morrison, who was raised in Moray, were discovered in France two years ago.

Relatives were traced, and he has now been buried with full military honours in France.

The service was held near the battlefield where he lost his life in 1915 while trying to help an injured officer.

The 29-year-old served with the 1st Battalion The Black Watch.

His remains were discovered in 2014 by a farmer working in his field.

Ministry of Defence Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre (JCCC) experts tracked down a nephew in Dingwall and a cousin in Forres.
