Aberdeen is unlikely to have an across the board council tax rise, BBC Scotland understands.

Householders who live in properties in Band E to H will face an increase after MSPs agreed changes.

Aberdeen City Council will meet on Wednesday 22 February to decide its budget for the coming year.

However, sources within the political groups have told BBC Scotland that they would be very surprised if a council tax rise happened.

Millions of pounds of savings need to be made. On the table are a range of cuts offering 200 staff early retirement or voluntary severance.

The Labour-led administration is still reviewing whether it will propose a rise in council tax of up to 3%.

Finance convenor Willie Young said on Thursday that all options were still on the table.
