Man charged over serious sexual assault and murder bid

An investigation was launched in Cove

A man has been charged after police launched an investigation into a serious sexual assault in Aberdeen.

Officers had been appealing for witnesses after an incident involving a woman at a property on Charleston Road North in the Cove area on Saturday evening.

Police said a 31-year-old man had now been charged, and that he had also been charged with attempted murder.

He is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Officers remain in the area as part of the inquiry.
