Two non-executive directors have resigned from the mining firm Scotgold Resources.

The company said Adam Davey and Ed Edwards were going after a strategic review of the group and its operations.

Scotgold Resources is in the process off trying to raise £640,000 in new capital.

The company's application to redevelop the Cononish gold mine in the Loch Lomond National Park was turned down in the summer.

Scotgold is appealing the decision.

Chairman John Bentley said: "On behalf of the board I would like to thank both Adam and Ed for their important contributions to the foundation and development of Scotgold.

"As we progress with seeking planning consent for the Cononish mine and continue with exploration of the Company's extensive license areas in the Scottish highlands a reduced board was considered to be more appropriate."

Scotgold Resources' share price, which has more than halved during this year, fell further on the news of the resignations.
