Borders-based BSW Timber has reported a 280% rise in profits to £12.4m, from £4.4m last time.
The company said its profits had been boosted by the acquisition of the Howie Group in Dalbeattie in 2009.
BSW, which has its headquarters in Earlston, owns six sawmills in the UK and one in Latvia and is investing £50m in the company over the next few years.
However the group warned of the "fragile" construction industry "with new-build a particular concern".
The company's mills include one in Fort William and another in Boat of Garten.
Chief Executive of BSW, Tony Hackney, said: ""Our results for the year demonstrate a considerable achievement for the group."
He added: "They have been achieved thanks to a combination of record production levels, increased market share, cost control, the benefit of a reasonable raw material cost at the beginning of the year and an advantageous exchange rate."
