Oil and gas firm, Wood Group Kenny, has struck a five-year deal with Shell to provide sub-sea piping services.

The main focus of the agreement will be in the Asia Pacific region, along with other projects in Europe.

The Aberdeen-based group did not put a value on the contract.

Steve Wayman, chief executive of the firm said: "It will give us the opportunity to work on some of the most interesting and challenging projects in the world."

The agreement is for five years and Shell has an option to extend it by a further five years at the end of the initial contract period.

Kenny is one division of the main Wood Group and employs 2,300 people worldwide.

It has already started work for Shell as part of the contract in Norway, as well as on the world's first floating liquefied natural gas project in Australia.

In addition Wood Group Kenny is supporting Shell on the Gumusut project in Malaysia and in the North Sea focusing there on "well control incident intervention".
