Clock ticks closer to second referendum vote call

The clock ticks closer to MSPs backing a bid to ask Westminster to hold a second Scottish independence referendum.

Politicians held their first day of debate at Holyrood into whether the Scottish government should request a Section 30 order.

It is likely to win backing from a majority of MSPs. However, Theresa May's Conservative government has to approve the order. If it does not win her support then an officially binding vote cannot take place.
