Music fans gather for Wickerman festival
- Published
About 15,000 music fans are estimated to have attended the annual Wickerman Festival in southern Scotland.
Some 140 acts, including bands The Charlatans and Ocean Colour Scene, entertained the gathering on farmland near Dundrennan on the Solway Coast.
The musical extravaganza culminated with the ceremonial burning of a giant Wickerman statue.
Festival organisers were also aiming to raise money to provide greater access to drinking water in Nepal.
The event was first held in 2002 and the burning of the giant Wickerman is symbolic of a scene in the cult film of the same name.
