Dumfries Theatre Royal secures emergency funding

An emergency funding package has been secured to stave off the immediate threat of closure facing the historic Theatre Royal in Dumfries.
The £30,000 council grant will be used to carry out vital repairs to the roof and heating system.
A report on the long-term future of Scotland's oldest working theatre has still to be published.
Master of the Guild of Players Alan Henry said without the funds they would have been lucky to survive the winter.
