Chart act Tinchy Stryder has been added to the line-up for the free Youth Beatz event
Chart act Tinchy Stryder has been added to the line-up for the free Youth Beatz festival in Dumfries later this year.
Organisers previously announced 2008 X Factor winner Alexandra Burke as the headline act for the event at Dock Park on 15 September.
The festival - which calls itself "Scotland's largest free music event" - attracted 12,000 fans in 2011.
A spokesperson for the organisers said they were confident this year would be the "biggest and best Youth Beatz" yet.
Dumfries and Galloway Council's Nithsdale area committee contributed towards the cost of the event.
Gill Dykes, who chairs the committee, said: "Nithsdale area committee felt it was important to support this interactive event for young people aged 12 to 25 years.
"As well as having fun and enjoying performances from major music artists, they can take part and be better informed about relevant issues, services and opportunities.
"Youth Beatz 2012 has been designed to encourage civic pride and encourage young people to be fully involved in their community.
"I am delighted at the line-up so far and congratulate the staff and young people on all their efforts."
