Dumfries and Galloway data centre consent extension rejected

A bid to extend planning consent for three years on proposals to create a multi-million pound data storage centre in Dumfriesshire has been rejected.

The current approval for the 241-acre farmland site near Ecclefechan is about to expire.

Proposals to develop an internet data storage complex at Johnstonebank Farm first emerged in 2007.

Dumfries and Galloway Council officials had advised approval for the consent extension but it was turned down.
