Conor Maynard will headline the sixth edition of the Youth Beatz festival in Dumfries

Singer Conor Maynard has been announced as the headline act for Youth Beatz, described as Scotland's largest free music festival.

The event, on 9 August, returns to the Dock Park in Dumfries now its upgrade works are complete.

Youth Beatz has attracted thousands of fans to its previous five editions.

Conor Maynard was unveiled as the winner of MTV's Brand New competition in 2012 and his debut album Contrast topped the UK's official chart.

He said: "This is going to be an amazing show to headline. I've heard about the atmosphere at Youth Beatz and Scottish crowds are always brilliant."
