Scaled-down Romanno Bridge wind farm plans lodged

An application has been submitted to erect eight turbines reaching up to 100m tall

Scaled-down plans have been lodged for a wind farm development in the Scottish Borders.

Welsh-based West Coast Energy Ltd initially wanted to construct 11 turbines at Hag Law near Romanno Bridge in Peeblesshire.

However, an application submitted to Scottish Borders Council now contains plans to erect eight turbines reaching up to 100m tall.

It also features a new site access off the A701 Edinburgh to Moffat road.

If the application is approved, West Coast Energy has pledged 10% of the profits as an annual community benefit payment.

The company predicts Hag Law will produce clean electricity for 10,000 homes.
