Jane Davidson has been appointed chief executive of NHS Borders.

The former deputy director of finance in the Scottish government's health department replaces Calum Campbell who has moved to NHS Lanarkshire.

Ms Davidson was appointed deputy chief executive of the Borders board in 2013 and she has held the top role on an interim basis since January.

Chairman John Raine welcomed her appointment following a "rigorous selection process".

He said: "I am confident that, under her executive leadership and with her passion for working alongside patients, carers and staff the services that we provide to the people of the Borders will continue to improve."

Ms Davidson said: "As an organisation, I am proud to say that we are fortunate to have dedicated staff who want to help take us forward to be the best we can be for our patients and carers.

"I am privileged to have worked here for the past five years and am eager to build on the great work that we do."
