Missing Newton Stewart walker traced by police

A search is taking place to try to trace missing walker John McVean

A 79-year-old man who was reported missing after failing to return from his daily walk has been traced by police.

John McVean was missing overnight after setting off towards Old Minnigaff in Newton Stewart at about 14:00 on Wednesday.

A search operation was launched but Police Scotland confirmed he has been found.

The force thanked the public for sharing its appeals.
