Man dies in van and truck crash on A9

One man has died and another injured in a crash on the A9 in Perthshire.

The collision, between a van and tipper truck, happened on the northbound carriageway at about 0630 BST, four miles (6.4km) from Auchterarder.

The 41-year-old driver of a white Renault Traffic van died at the scene. He was from Kilsyth in North Lanarkshire.

His passenger, a 45-year-old man from Shawhead, North Lanarkshire, suffered only minor injuries.

The driver of the yellow Leyland Daf tipper truck was uninjured. The road was closed northbound.

Accident investigators are working at the scene and Tayside Police have appealed to witnesses to contact them.
