T in the Park: Revellers enjoy day two at Balado

Beyonce and Coldplay are among the acts taking to the stage at day two of Scotland's largest music festival.

Organisers expect about 85,000 revellers a day at T in the Park at Balado, near Kinross.

Tayside Police have issued a statement saying there is no truth in rumours on social networking sites about drugs-related deaths at the festival.

Arctic Monkeys brought the first day to an end, with Plan B, Sir Tom Jones, local band The View also performing.

The sun shone as the predicted showers stayed away and many fans dressed in 80s costumes for Fancy Dress Friday.

The second day of the three-day event will also see The Script, Slash, Manic Street Preachers and N Dubz perform on the main stage.

The line-up for the festival's other stages includes Swedish House Mafia, Primal Scream, The Strokes and The Saturdays.

Heavy rain has been forecast for the weekend, but revellers refused to let it dampen their spirits.

Stuart Johnston, 25, from Fife, said the atmosphere on-site was "amazing".

He said: "Everyone in the campsite is here for the party. T in the Park this year has pretty much something for everyone.

"We're waiting for Beyonce and The Script, they are the big acts for us."

Claire Watson, 20, from Livingston, is enjoying her first year at the festival and looking forward to seeing Coldplay.

She said: "Folk just want to dance and party, everybody is in the same mood and it's brilliant.

"Today is going to be the best day with Coldplay and The Strokes both playing."

Sunday's big hitters include Blondie, Pulp and Tinie Tempah as well as Scottish talents Calvin Harris and KT Tunstall.

American rockers Foo Fighters will close the festival headlining the Main Stage.

A statement from Tayside Police said the force was aware of "persistent rumours" about drugs-related fatalities at T in the Park circulating on social network sites.

It said: "These unfounded rumours are causing concern, particularly to family and friends of revellers attending the event.

"Tayside Police wishes to stress that there is no truth to these rumours."

There have been 19 arrests so far for offences including theft, minor assault, breach of the peace and drugs.

Event Commander, Chf Supt Craig Suttie, said: "I'm delighted with the way T in the Park 2011 is going.

"As with previous years there is a real carnival atmosphere at the event with the crowd in good spirits."
