A second ward at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee has been closed to new admissions following further suspected cases of norovirus.

NHS Tayside said it closed medicine and cardiovascular ward 14 after several people suffered vomiting and diarrhoea.

On Monday, the hospital's ward 6 was closed to new admissions as a precautionary measure after several people were taken ill.

NHS Tayside said appropriate infection control measures were in place.

Norovirus is more commonly known as the winter vomiting bug.

The health authority has asked people who may be feeling unwell or experiencing vomiting and diarrhoea not to visit friends and family members at the hospital for at least 48 hours.
