Appeal for information on taxi in missing Stirling student case

Police searching for the missing Stirling University student David O'Halloran have again appealed for the driver of a white Skoda Octavia car to come forward.

The 18-year-old went missing in the early hours of Friday 18 January.

Central Scotland Police released CCTV images of the car, which is thought to be a taxi.

On 14 February, his father, Alan McInnes, issued an emotional appeal for new witnesses to come forward.

The CCTV images showed the car in Bridge of Allan then returning through the town a few minutes later travelling towards the university.

Dropped off a fare

Supt Gordon Dawson, of Central Scotland Police, said: "We are renewing our appeal for the person who was driving this car or who may have been the passenger to come forward.

"We believe that the car may have dropped off a fare in the Inverallon Road or Minewoods areas of Bridge of Allan.

"We do not believe that the taxi was from Stirling and we are keen to hear from anybody who may have been driving a white Skoda Octavia 2004-2009 model, with a taxi or private hire plate on the right bumper, around this time on Friday 18 January, or even if somebody was dropped off in Bridge of Allan."

The car was seen on CCTV at 02:14 as it headed through Bridge of Allan in the direction of Keir Roundabout and was visible again at 02:17 as it returned in the opposite direction.

David was seen on CCTV at 02:19 as he crossed Henderson Street. He had just returned from a night out in Stirling with friends.
