Teacher admits killing biker in Monikie collision

A 45-year-old teacher has admitted killing a Brechin biker by pulling out of a junction into his path on an Angus road.
Jon Marsh, 48, died at the scene of the crash on the B961 near Monikie in November 2022.
Angela Addis admitted causing Mr Marsh's death by careless driving and will be sentenced on 18 December.
A court was told Mr Marsh was making his way home from Dundee at the time of the collision.
Depute fiscal John Adams told Dundee Sheriff Court that Mr Marsh had been at a motorcycle club meeting prior to the crash and had been in good spirits.
He had left the meeting at about 20:30 and had not consumed any alcohol.
Mr Adams said Addis had left her home nearby to collect her daughter at about 20:50 and pulled out of the junction, causing Mr Marsh to take evasive action.
He said Mr Marsh had collided with Addis's rear driver door and his clothing was subsequently trapped under her car.
She immediately stopped her car and passers-by came to offer assistance but there was no response from Mr Marsh. He was pronounced dead at 21:29.
Addis was heard to say: "I didn't see him, I didn't see the lights."
Negative breath test
Addis gave a negative breath test for alcohol and drugs following the collision.
Mr Adams told the court: "The accused failed to give way and has created the situation that the deceased had to react to, and that has caused the collision to take place."
Mr Adams told the court the junction where Addis stopped was wide with a Give Way sign.
He said visibility along the road south from the junction was about 230m (754ft) but this became more restricted the further back a vehicle was from the stop lines.
Sheriff Gregor Murray continued Addis's bail until her next court appearance and disqualified her from driving in the interim.
More than 100 bikers escorted Mr Marsh's coffin to his funeral near Arbroath last December.
