Seaside museum idea for fire-hit Llandudno pavilion
Conwy council has started fresh efforts to clear up the site of the pier pavilion building in Llandudno which burned down in 1994 and which has stood derelict since. Some have suggested bulldozing it and grassing it over if no use can be found for it.
The site is listed, and is within the town's conservation area next to the Grand Hotel, which is also listed. John Lawson-Reay, chair of the Llandudno civic trust, says it can still be part of the town's seaside heritage and suggests a seaside museum.
In response, Councillor Brian Cossey, of Conwy Council, explains why lifting listed building status could be the key to development.
