Bedwellty House, Tredegar, reopens after refurbishment

Help

The Grade II-listed Bedwellty House in Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent, has been reopened after being saved from ruin.

The early 19th Century mansion was originally home to the Tredegar ironmasters until it was given to the then Tredegar Urban District Council in 1900.

The Tredegar Town Council Chamber situated there was where Ebbw Vale MP Aneurin Bevan, who many credit as as the founder of the NHS, began his political career.

After falling into disrepair both the house and its 26 acres of parkland are open to the public again as a result of £5.9m, six-year refurbishment.
