London 2012: Torch bearers and roads revealed

Details of every street the Olympic flame will pass through and the torch bearers carrying it when it comes to Wales in May have been revealed.

More than 80 towns, villages and cities in Wales will see a glimpse of the torch during the relay from 25-30 May.

Hundreds of runners are due to carry the torch during its tour of Wales.

The quartet were all successfully nominated by friends and relatives to take part at various stages when the torch arrives in Monmouth on 25 May, six days after the relay starts in Land's End.

Torch relay road route in Wales:

It will travel through south and west Wales, up Cardigan Bay and across north Wales, leaving Welshpool on 30 May.

The torch will stop overnight at Cardiff, Swansea, Aberystwyth and Bangor before the bearers run across north Wales to spend the night in Chester on 29 May.

The relay will then return to Wales the following day on a route passing through Wrexham, Oswestry and Welshpool before crossing the border again towards Shrewsbury.

One of the highlights will come on 29 May when the Snowdon Mountain Railway will carry the Olympic flame in a lantern to the summit.

Before then, torch bearers will carry the flame on a Ceredigon Cob horse in Aberaeron.

On Anglesey, an RNLI inshore lifeboat, the Annette Mary Liddington, will carry it between two piers from Beaumaris to Menai Bridge strait.

On its last day in Wales, in another nautical twist, the torch will be carried on a hand-drawn boat across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, near Wrexham.

Major celebratory events are planned for the towns and cities hosting the overnight stops, with thousands expected to gather on the streets of all communities on the route.

A free 16,000-ticket concert, Move to the Beat, will be held in Cardiff's Coopers Field on Friday, 25 May while Swansea, Aberystwyth and Bangor are all planning events.

Wales' contribution to the 2012 cultural Olympiad will also continue in through the relay and in the build up to the start of the Games.

Cardiff will kick off the Olympic Games on 25 July with football at the Millennium Stadium, two days before the event officially begins in London.
