Dolphins visit Cardigan Bay to feed off fish attracted by whelk factory
Factory waste in Cardigan Bay seems to be encouraging wildlife to visit the area.
Research suggests empty shells which are discarded into the sea from a fish factory in New Quay are attracting dolphins to the area.
Research carried out by a Swansea University student showed the number of dolphins in the area changed on days when the factory was open.
Fish are said to be attracted to the shores when whelk shells are emptied into the water and dolphins are then drawn to the area to feed on the fish.
