Roads and rail affected by floods in north and mid Wales

A number of roads have been closed with flood alerts in place across north, mid and west Wales.

Environment Agency Wales is issuing <link> <caption>live flood alerts</caption> <url href="http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/floods/34678.aspx?type=Region&term=Wales&from=fl" platform="highweb"/> </link> affecting several rivers via its website.

These include those in Ceredigion, such as Aberystwyth, and Carmarthenshire as well as Machynlleth in Powys. Rail services have been disrupted in the same area.

<link> <caption>Traffic Wales</caption> <url href="http://www.traffic-wales.com/" platform="highweb"/> </link> says roads are affected across mid Wales as well as in Gwynedd.

In Ceredigion a number of roads are affected around Aberystwyth and Borth.

Dyfed-Powys Police said the unclassified road (U1086) Talybont to Nantymoch was closed following a landslide.

Meanwhile, the A470 in Gwynedd has been closed in both directions due to flooding between A496 (Llanelltyd) and A4212 (Trawsfynydd).

Elsewhere in Gwynedd, the A493 has also been affected by flooding between Brook Street (Tywyn) and Ffordd Y Coleg (Llwyngwril).

<link> <caption>Arriva Trains Wales</caption> <url href="http://www.arrivatrainswales.co.uk/Disruption/" platform="highweb"/> </link> says there have been services affected between Caersws and Aberystwyth, and between Machynlleth and Pwllheli due to flooding.
