The Varsity games brought students out in force

South Wales Police has said one of the biggest days in the student sporting calendar went off without major incident in Cardiff.

Thousands attended Welsh Varsity, which saw Cardiff University and Swansea University go head-to-head in a day of sport.

The Welsh Ambulance Service put on additional services but there were just a few cases of drunken behaviour.

For the sixteenth year, students competed in 20 events around the city.

The event ended with a rugby clash at Millennium Stadium where Swansea University beat Cardiff 21-13.
