Prince Charles visited the Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells, Powys, on his first public engagement since seeing his grandson on Tuesday.

Well wishers cheered with some shouting "congratulations Granddad!" as he and the Duchess of Cornwall toured Wales' annual and largest agricultural show.

The royal visitors were greeted at the Llanelwedd showground with applause and cheers on Wednesday morning.

He chatted to a number of visitors as he walked onto the showground with the duchess. It was his seventh visit to the show. His first was in 1969.

Prince Charles is a former president of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society (RWAS) which runs the event, and The Queen is patron.

Charles and Camilla began their visit in the President's Pavilion meeting RWAS staff after which they split up to go on separate tours of the ground.
