Rhys Williams 'more determined' after serving drugs ban

Welsh athlete Rhys Williams has said being unable to run while he served a drugs ban made him realise how much athletics means to him.

The 2012 European 400m hurdles champion ran at the Welsh Athletics Regional Championships at Spytty Park in Newport on Saturday.

It was his first race since serving a ban for failing a drugs test in July 2014.

Williams, 31, was subsequently cleared of knowingly cheating, but served a four-month ban.

He told the BBC the experience had made him "more determined".

After winning Saturday's race, Williams said his focus was on winning a place in the British team for this summer's world championships in Beijing.

He spoke to BBC Wales' Janet Ebenezer.
