Almost 38,000 more passengers used Cardiff Airport over the peak summer period compared to last year, figures show.

Airport bosses say 422,172 people passed through the terminal between June and August, a rise of 10%.

Spain remains popular while long haul flights with KLM and Aer Lingus are growing with their connecting hubs in Amsterdam and Dublin respectively.

Managing director Debra Barber said she was pleased with the results.

"We know that customers will fly to and from Cardiff when there is the choice of destinations at reasonable prices," she added.

"We remain focused on giving customers even more options so that Cardiff becomes the airport of choice for both Welsh passengers and those travelling to Wales."
