How World War One Mametz Wood conflict was reported

Events have been taking place to commemorate 100 years since the Battle of the Somme in World War One.

On this day in 1916, soldiers from Wales were days away from one of the most destructive engagements in the country's military history - the battle of Mametz Wood.

The 38th (Welsh) Division suffered heavy losses while driving German forces out of Mametz Wood.

So how was the war being reported here a hundred years ago today?
