Six Nations Cardiff road closures for Wales v Ireland

Road closures are in place as a sell-out crowd of 74,000 is at Cardiff's Principality Stadium to see Wales take on Ireland in the Six Nations.

Some city centre roads will be shut until 23:00 GMT and buses will be diverted away from central stops.

A queuing system will be in place at Cardiff Central rail station after the game.

Earlier, there was several miles of stop-start traffic on the M4 before Newport.

Arriva Trains Wales said all services into Cardiff would be "extremely busy throughout the day" and had advised rugby fans to arrive at least three hours before kick-off.

It said all available trains would be in service, with thousands of extra spaces provided.

However, services will be "extremely limited" after 22:00 and customers should return directly to Cardiff Central station after the game.

The following road closures are in place:

• Kingsway from its junction with North Road to its junction with Duke Street

• Cowbridge Road East from its junction with Cathedral Road to its junction with Westgate Street

• Tudor Street from its junction with Clare Road to its junction with Wood Street (access for residents and traders will be permitted via Fitzhammon Embankment)

• Plantagenet Street and Beauchamp Street from their junctions with Despenser Place to their junctions with Tudor Street (access for residents and traders will be permitted)

• Saunders Road from its junction with St Mary Street

• Customhouse Street throughout its length (access to private car parks will be permitted)

• Penarth Road from its junction with Saunders Road to the entrance leading into the rear of the Central Train Station

The following roads will be closed in their entirety: Duke Street, Castle Street, High Street, St Mary Street, Caroline Street, Wood Street, Central Square, Westgate Street, Quay Street, Guildhall Place, Golate, Park Street, Havelock Street and Scott Road.
